Working without getting injured: occupational therapy at the service
groomers
Grooming is a demanding profession that combines precision, repetition, sustained physical effort, and sometimes complex interactions with clients. These realities expose groomers to certain health and safety risks in the workplace, including musculoskeletal pain in the back, shoulders, and wrists. This 2-hour training session offers a practical, field-based approach to better understand the origins of this pain and to integrate simple and effective strategies for prevention. Emphasis is placed on optimizing posture, organizing the workstation, and the proper use of equipment such as adjustable tables. Beyond the physical aspects, the training also incorporates the psychological dimension of the work. Participants will explore the link between stress, client relationships, and physical tension, while discovering concrete tools for better communication, setting boundaries, and reducing the impact of conflict situations on their health. The objective: to offer immediately applicable strategies to reduce pain, improve comfort at work, and promote sustainable practice in the profession.
